Bought in 1986 by the AXA group, initially under the leadership of Mr. Cazes (Lynch-Bages), Pichon-Longueville Baron regained its best form in the powerful and distinguished style of the great Pauillac. It must be said that a small half of its vines are located next to those of Latour, on a first growth terroir! For the Revue du Vin de France: "Pichon-Baron is at the top in the last vintages".

Revue du Vin de France : 96-97/100 « Encore un Pichon qui s’inscrit dans la longue lignée des très belles réussites. Il est d’ailleurs extrêmement classique dans sa forme. Tenu par des cabernets séveux et structurants, il déploie une très grande allonge, avec des tanins racés et finement enrobés. Nul doute qu’il ira très loin. »
Bettane & Desseauve : 95/100 ♥ Coup de cœur « Beau nez de violette typé par le cabernet-sauvignon, corps équilibré, tannin harmonieux, beaucoup de naturel. C’est la classe. »
Le Point : 17.5/20 « Nez cendre, fumée, sureau, bouche onctueuse, tannique mais élégante, dense, joli fruit. Long, plus aimable qu'autrefois. Juteux. »
Quarin : 97/100 « Minutieux en entrée de bouche et de suite charnu, avec de l'éclat dans la saveur et un corps dense, le vin s'élève dans la seconde partie du palais et vient s'achever long, toujours charnu et très savoureux. C'est superbe ! »
Galloni : 95-97/100 « The 2023 Pichon Baron is stellar. It is another wine in this lineup that impresses with its finesse and nobility. Dark and enveloping, with terrific freshness, this Grand Vin is so expressive. The 2023 is an understated, wonderfully refined Pichon Baron. Dark fruit, violet and mocha build into the resonant finish. »
Martin : 94-96/100 « The palate is medium-bodied with fine-boned tannins that frame the graphite-infused black fruit. It's very focused, fresh and quite sapid in the mouth, with a subtle strictness that codifies this as Pichon Baron. The 2023 is a quintessential Pauillac that will age gracefully over the next 30 or 40 years. It reminds me a little of the 2019. Classic "P.B." »
