François Labet, owner of Château de la Tour in Vougeot, manages the family estate (10 ha in Beaune and Gevrey) with equal talent. He applies the same quality principles: organic farming, non-éraflée harvesting, long ageing (two winters minimum). Far from being the most talked-about domaine, but a wise choice for connoisseurs, according to Bourgogne Aujourd'hui: "to be seized as a matter of urgency, as the quality of the wines has been so consistent for a very long time".
Vinous (January 2025): 90-92/100 “The 2023 Gevrey-Chambertin Vieilles Vignes is a blend of three parcels on either sandy or clay soils; more stems from the sandier soils were used. The nose shows a little exoticism behind the red fruit with hints of kirsch and tangerines, but it is still well defined and focused. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannins, quite elegant in style, with a nice piquancy that attenuates just a little toward the finish. more early-drinking, but certainly weel crafted.”
