They do not have tannic astringency and their aromatic complexity is therefore fabulous!

The very high quality of Cos d'Estournel's recent vintages is impressive, placing it undoubtedly among the first great classified growths of the Médoc. A single qualifier comes to mind when we think of Cos d'Estournel: monumental, for its wines as well as for its cellar.
The 2016 vintage is rated 98/100 by J-M Quarin "The best ever! Dark, intense, purple and beautiful colour. Intense, fine nose with ripe fruit. Powerful. Soft on the attack, then dense and melting, with class in the touch, the wine glides between the middle and the finish, ascending in its unfolding, complex and long. It has a lot of energy, and a lot of flavour too". (August 2019)

The 2014 vintage is rated 94/100 by J-M Quarin "Caressing on the attack, tasty in the middle palate, a tad austere but still pleasant, the wine finishes tasty and a little more marked by tannin than others. Good length." (June 2018)

This beautiful 24-hectare estate has been run by Alain Moueix since 1992. He applies the same philosophy and methods as at Fonroque (Saint-Émilion): organic farming since 2015, biodynamic certification in 2018, search for freshness and elegance through controlled extractions... Mazeyres offers delicate and measured wines, without blush, with a great finesse of flavor that increases even more in recent vintages.

The 2018 vintage is rated 94/100 by the Guide de La Revue du Vin de France 2023 "Even in the sunniest vintages, the wines retain an admirable freshness. Mazeyres 2018 is a brilliant example of this, perfectly in keeping with this emphasis on fruit. Already very attractive, the wine nevertheless has real potential for development."

As its name indicates, Bellegrave is on the crown of alluvial gravel of the Isle. With application, Mr. Bouldy has been offering for 40 years a true artisanal Pomerol, fresh, with velvety, energetic tannins and excellent keeping qualities.
Rated 91/100 by N. MARTIN «The 2020 Bellegrave is well-defiened and poised on the nose, blackberry and briary, hints of truffle unfolding with aeration. The palate is medium-bodied with a graphite-infused entry. Quite solid and structured, almost like a "mini-Lafleur", with a well-definied and persistent finish that has a splendid minerality. Very Fine » (December 2022)

The 2018 vintage is rated 90/100 by La Revue du Vin de France " The commitment to great maturity becomes more pronounced as the 2018 develops. The concentration and velvety flesh command admiration ". (Guide 2024)

Rated 95/100 by Antonio Galloni « The 2017 Rouget is a total knockout. Aromatically explosive, deep and just so compelling in its beauty, the 2017 has so much to offer. A rush of inky dark fruit, lavender, bittersweet chocolate, spice and licorice build as this sumptuous, exotic beauty shows off all of its allure. The 2017 is not at all subtle, but it sure is gorgeous. » (March 2020)
» (Nov. 2021)

The second Pomerol of the late Mr. Durantou, made with wines from his Château L'Église-Clinet and the addition of neighboring plots. More than a second wine.

Second wine of the Vieux Château Certan, where we find the authenticity, the race and the seriousness of the great wine.
The 2021 vintage is rated 92/100 A. Galloni "The Gravette de Certan 2021 is 100% Merlot from the estate's youngest vines. Supple, soft and quite accessible, the 2021 is a pleasant wine to drink now and over the next decade. Juicy red/purple fruit, lavender, mocha and spice are to the fore." (February 2024)

By ceasing to use any chemical inputs in her vineyard in 1988, Claire Laval was one of the precursors of organic farming in Bordeaux. Its beautiful 7 ha terroir, close to the church of Pomerol, produces frank, straight and fairly quickly seductive wines that are nevertheless capable of ageing very well. Authentic Pomerol, at a welcoming price.

Nénin is like Léoville-Las Cases (same owner): a great wine, straight, tight, with a lot of length and always excellent ageing potential. In great shape in the last vintages, as Bettane&Desseauve underlines "In constant progress for its structural and aromatic precision, it is now in the court of the greatest".
Rated 92/100 by Antonio Galloni « The 2017 Nénin is super-expressive and energetic, with tons of Franc character driving its profile. [...] Although a bit eccentric, Nénin is wonderfully nuanced and alluring in 2017 ». (Mars 2020)
Rated 92/100 by the Revue du Vin de France « Droit et long, élancé, il fait encore montre d'une légère rigidité qui en un an s'est toutefois assouplie. l'éclat de son fruit croquant est indéniable ». (Nov. 2021)

Attention: great wine! Quietly, Feytit-Clinet is closing in on the biggest names in Pomerol, with only the price lagging behind. As the Revue du Vin de France rightly points out, "there are no spectacular château or ultra-modern wineries here", the reputation of this cru is built solely on the consistent quality of its wines.
More impressive than its success in great vintages is Feytit-Clinet's performance in "smaller" vintages: the 2013 is a Guide Hachette Coup de Coeur, the 2017 is one of the wines of the vintage according to A. Galloni (Vinous)...
