They do not have tannic astringency and their aromatic complexity is therefore fabulous!

In the same family since 1609 (!), Moulin Haut-Laroque offers a disciplined Fronsac: ripe and rich without excess, softened by the sweetness of its Merlot (65%) and by a judicious breeding. A sure value of the appellation.
Remarkable success in 2015 and 2016.

The 2019 vintage in the press:
J-M Quarin (February 2022): 90/100 “Caressing on entry, very aromatic in the middle, very tasty, the wine offers a mellow unfolding. The finish is long and drawn out. Very good.”

Mr. Durantou (owner of Église-Clinet who died in 2020) produced only 1500 cases per year of his remarkable Lalande de Pomerol Les Cruzelles. Incomparably superior to the neighbouring Pomerol of the same price.
The 2021 vintage in the press:
La Revue du Vin de France (Guide 2025): 92/100 “Les Cruzelles stands out for its looseness on the palate, while offering ravishing density.”
Vinous (N. Martin - February 2024) 93/100 “The 2021 Les Cruzelles is every bit as impressive as it was en primeur. The blend is 65% Merlot and 35% Cabernet Franc, with the Franc at the forefront. Dried herbs, tobacco, cedar, new leather, menthol and licorice follow one another on the palate. Deep and complex, bursting with dynamic energy, the 2021 is an impeccable wine.”

The 2017 vintage in the press:
J-M Quarin (October 2020): 90/100 “Delicate on entry, perfumed in the middle, melting, sappy, with a fine truffle taste, the wine picks up pace between the middle and the finish, constantly driven by lots of aromatic brilliance. Incurable."
Vinous (A. Galloni - March 2020): 92/100 “Unctuous and flamboyantly mature, with great intensity, the 2017 is another knockout beauty in this range from Denis Durantou.”
Since its acquisition in 1998 by Mr. De Neipperg (Clos de l'Oratoire, Canon-La Gaffelière, La Mondotte), d'Aiguilhe has been part of the new generation of very ambitious wines that bring the appellation of the Côtes de Castillon to a new level. It has just won a second star in the 2023 guide of the Revue du Vin de France.
The 2018 vintage in the press:
La Revue du Vin de France (December 2022): 94/100 “The Neipperg estate has always shone on the limestone bedrock of Castillon. [...] Stephan Von Neipperg and his son Ludovic have now committed their estate to an eco-responsible approach. The wines are changing, new oak has been reduced, [...] The wines are gaining in precision and have never been so balanced, as is the case with the 2018 vintage.”

With 12 hectares cultivated in biodynamic farming, certified since the 2007 vintage, Clos Puy-Arnaud is one of the great Côtes de Castillon wines that have nothing to envy to neighbouring Saint-Émilion.
Uncompromising, the great wine that has made the estate's reputation is an authentic cuvée, straightforward, deep and made for laying down.

Vinous (Antonio Galloni - December 2022): 95/100 “Clos Puy Arnaud 2020 is one of the great wines of this vintage. Notes of inky red fruit, blood orange, spice and mocha follow one another on the palate. Silky tannins envelop the rich, inviting finish. The saline energy and precision of this wine are simply unreal. This is a wine of extraordinary character and personality.”

Selection of the best parcels of Château de Carles (10 ha out of the 20 ha of the estate), certainly the finest and most ambitious wine of Fronsac, making since 2000 equal game with the best classified growths of the slopes of Saint-Émilion. A great wine that should be kept for at least 6 to 8 years.

Started in 2003, the Clos Louie adventure is a textbook case: a dolly vineyard (2.3 ha) on a beautiful clay-limestone terroir of Castillon, careful biodynamic cultivation, double manual sorting during the harvest, low-intervention vinification, gentle maturation in 500-litre demi-muids.
Louison et Léopoldine is the other Clos Louie wine, a tribute to Cabernet Franc (80%) from 50-year-old vines. Clean, bright fruit and remarkable aromatic freshness: a real nugget!
The 2022 vintage in the press:
La Revue du Vin de France (Guide 2025): 91/100 “Cabernet franc and merlot play in equal parts in Louison et Léopoldine 2022, a wine full of brilliance and endowed with a dynamic, salivating relief. A very seductive freshness in this sunny vintage.”
Started in 2003, the adventure of Clos Louie is a textbook case: doll's vineyard (2.3 ha) on a beautiful clay-limestone terroir of Castillon, very old vines (150 years old!) mostly Merlot and red tail malbec, careful biodynamic cultivation, double manual sorting during the harvest, little interventionist vinification, gentle maturing in 500-litre demi-muids. A true artist's wine, absent from the guides but that informed amateurs know well.
The 2021 vintage in the press:
La Revue du Vin de France (Guide 2024): 93/100 Coup de ♥ “A delicious interpretation of a contemporary Bordeaux, this 2021 focuses on a frank expression of fruit. Not so commonplace in a vintage where many of the region's wines lack substance.”
Applying the same principles of cultivation and vinification as in Angelus, Hubert de Boüard brought his Château de Lalande de Pomerol to the top of his appellation. Rich and luxuriously aged wines, of incredible charm, with each vintage praised by critics. An exceptional 2017 vintage, of which the tiny production (saved from frost) is only available in magnums.

Noting the extent of the damage (95%) caused by the frost at the end of April 2017 in La Fleur de Boüard, Hubert de Boüard and his daughter Coralie did not give up and decided to pamper the few remaining grapes.
100% Merlot, deep, fleshy, sweet and distinguished, caressing in the middle palate and concluding with a slender and more energetic finish, their superb 2017 is an astonishing success, surely made possible by the tiny harvest (20 hl produced on 40 ha of vines, a tiny yield of 0.5 hl/ha, just one hundredth of a normal harvest!).
And, killing two birds with one stone, they took the opportunity to celebrate their 20th year at La Fleur de Boüard by putting their 2017 only in 1000 numbered magnums specially decorated by the artist Petrusse Reynen.
60% Cabernet Sauvignon and 40% Merlot from the Graves of Languedoc, Camus is a beautiful, fruity, lively red Graves with a fine woodiness. A great success in 2019, with good value for money.
Dubourdieu property. Unanimously considered as the best and most distinguished of the red Graves, with a grand cru classé grape variety: 2/3 Cabernet Sauvignon and 1/3 Merlot.

Vinous (Antonio Galloni - December 2022): 90/100 “The Clos Floridène 2020 is formidable. Brilliant and punchy to a fault, the 2020 offers notes of crushed red berries, mocha, espresso and licorice, with lovely floral and savory nuances intertwining.”

Couhins' clear progress, seen in white wine since 2009, is now being felt in red wine. Here, it is not power that is sought but balance, aromatic delicacy and palatability.
