Champagne Famille MOUSSÉ Les Terres d'Illite 2019 bottle 75cl

bottle 75cl: 54,00 € incl. VATbottle 75cl

Son, grandson and great-grandson of winegrowers, Cédric Moussé took over the reins of the family estate in 2014 and modernised its Champagne production from top to bottom.

Nothing is left to chance to produce 'better' and 'better': synthetic pesticides and chemical weed pesticides and chemical weeding, eco-pasturing, self-sufficiency in electricity, natural temperature control in the winery, and the use of mineral sulphur (not derived from petrochemicals), lower sugar content during disgorgement, lighter bottles, use of paper capsules... A fervent advocate defender of Pinot Meunier, he offers deep but energetic cuvées with a delicate bubble texture. According to the Revue du Vin de France, "the latest vintages are in top form" (estate cited since 2022).

Les Terres d’Illite is a blend of Pinot Noir (80%) and Pinot Meunier (20%) from a plot of chalky marl rich in green clay.

The cuvée "Les Terres d'Illite 2019” in the press:

La Revue du Vin de France (Guide 2024): 93/100 coup de ♥ “Crystalline, uncluttered, the miller fades into the background of the mineral terroir.”

The estate's flagship cuvée, Eugène is a blend of Pinot Meunier (80%) and Pinot Noir (20%), in a vinous but not heavy style.

The cuvée “Eugène” in the press:

La Revue du Vin de France (Guide 2025): 90/100 “Eugène, which gives pride of place to meunier, is finely stained and offers a nose marked by notes of stone and cereals. The palate is coherent and full of energy.”

Les Vignes de mon Village, 100% pinot meunier, is proof that this grape variety, often regarded as 'rustic', can also produce elegant wines of astonishing depth.

The great cuvée Les Fortes Terres, 100% pinot meunier, is made from 4 parcels in the locality of "Les Fortes Terres", in Cuisles. Vinified exclusively in small containers and aged for 48 months, this top-of-the-range cuvée proves that pinot meunier, often wrongly regarded as rustic, can also produce elegant wines of astonishing depth.
