Always black with ink, always deliciously fat and sweet, always St-Julien and above all always regular. Supervised by Mr. Derenoncourt since 2009, Talbot has gained in intensity and aromatic precision.
Based on Sauvignon (with a hint of Semillon), Caillou Blanc has been presented for 50 years as the archetype of Médoc dry white wine: pale colour, between delicate freshness and aromatic distinction (citrus fruits, bitter orange, honeysuckle), never too full or demonstrative. And always reasonably positioned in terms of price.
The 2020 vintage in the press:
Vinous (N. Martin - April 2023): 90/100 "The 2022 Caillou Blanc de Talbot was picked 31 August to 5 September, aged in 40% new oak. Lively on the nose, it offers lemon verbena, lemon thyme and white peach scents on the nose. The palate is weel balanced with an attractive waxy texture, more pithy than recent vintages with a spicy, stem ginger tinged finish. Thoroughly enjoyable."

The 2021 vintage in the press:
Vinous (N. Martin - November 2023): 89/100 “The 2021 Caillou Blanc Talbot is similar to the sample I tasted a dew months earlier. Displaying pear and orange pith on the nose, well-defined and focused, this is very appealing. The palate has slimmed down a little in the intervening period, with hints of lychee emerging on the finish. Fine.”

The 2016 vintage in the press:
Vinous (N. Martin - January 2016): 92/100 "The 2016 Talbot has an airy, well-defined bouquet of blackberry cedar and light minty aromas, perhaps more Pauillac than Saint-Julien. The medium-bodied palate delivers gritty tannins, a fine bead of acidity and a graphite-infused finish. This is very fine for Talbot, a Saint-Julien hewn in a typically classic style."

The 2015 vintage in the press:
Vinous (N. Martin - January 2019): 93/100 "The 2015 Talbot shows much better now than just a year ago. Here it has a much more intense bouquet than Gruaud Larose and Lagrange. Upfront blackberry and bilberry scents, cedar and subtle mint aromas lend complexity with time in the glass. The palate is medium-bodied with grippy tannin on the entry, a fine bead of acidity with layers of graphite-infused black fruit. I love the precision on the finish here and the persistence is superb. Impressive."
