Since 1994, Michel Tardieu has been selecting and growing wines from very old vines and from the best terroirs of each appellation. Associated until 2007 with Dominique Laurent, known for the concentration of his Burgundy wines, Michel Tardieu has, because of the innate richness of the Rhone Valley wines, always sought to favour elegance and aromatic complexity in his selections.

Promoted two stars in the 2021 Revue du Vin de France guide.

Predominantly Marsanne (vines over 50 years old), a Crozes-Hermitage Vieilles Vignes dry white wine, aromatic (apricot, peach, frangipane...) and fat, with a judicious touch of bitterness on the finish.

Promoted to two stars in the Revue du Vin de France's 2022 guide.

For the past few years, Michel Tardieu and his son Bastien have been isolating the grapes from a few specific parcels to produce three cuvées that represent the excellence of their respective appellations. Aptly named "Le goût du lieu", they are the archetype of their terroirs (selection of reputed localities, old vines...) enhanced by the meticulous care of their winemakers (vinification in whole bunches or in part, maturing on fine lees, finishing in stoneware amphora...).

These exceptional cuvées, capable of competing with the best cuvées of the region, are brought together in a mixed case of 3 bottles (produced in only 600 copies):
    • 1 bottle of Condrieu blanc 2020, lieu-dit "Enrochement" sur Côte Bonnette, 45 years old vines
    • 1 bottle of red Saint-Joseph 2018, lieu-dit Chaillets sur Gervans, vines (petite serine) more than 100 years old
    • 1 bottle of red Crozes-Hermitage 2018, lieu-dit Chaillets sur Chavannay, vines aged 60 years and over

Since 1994, Maison Tardieu-Laurent has been selecting and ageing wines from very old vines and from the best terroirs of each appellation. Partnered until 2007 with Dominique Laurent, known for the concentration of his Burgundy wines, Michel Tardieu has, because of the innate richness of Rhone Valley wines, always sought to favor elegance and aromatic complexity in his selections.

Since the 2018 vintage, Michel and Bastien Tardieu have been isolating from the harvest any cuvee (rarely more than two barrels) with outstanding characteristics, the conjunction of an exceptional terroir, very old vines and an ideal vintage. These micro-selections benefit from special care adapted to the circumstances: vinification in whole bunches or in part, barrel fermentation, long ageing on fine lees plus 6 months finishing in sandstone amphora, bottling without fining or filtration.

These exceptional cuvées, capable of competing with the best cuvées from the Rhône's greatest producers, are called “Le Goût du Lieu” because each bottle comes from a specific parcel and is intended to be the perfect archetype of the appellation from which it comes.

The Condrieu “Goût du Lieu” is made from Côte Bonnette vines aged 40 years.
