Georges Vernay was once known as the “Pope of Condrieu”, resurrecting this appellation from a mere 7 ha in 1960 to almost 200 ha today. Since 1997, his daughter Christine has continued his work step by step, converting the entire vineyard to biodynamic viticulture and creating new cuvées (Les Terrasses de l'Empire, Maison Rouge, Blonde du Seigneur...) for better parcel management.

Blonde du Seigneur is an alliance of power and delicacy: a voluptuous, smoky wine with black fruit, olive and pepper, enhanced by a floral component provided by Viognier (5%).
The 2022 vintage in the press:
Vinous (N. Greinacher - December 2024): 93/100 "Intense violet, black cherry, red cherry, cedar and a flicker of grapefruit compose the aromatic profile of the 2022 Côte-Rôtie Blonde du Seigneur. Smooth and concentrated, the delightful 2022 is an utterly refined Côte-Rôtie from Christine and Emma Amsellem Vernay. Co-fermented with 5% Viognier and using roughly 5% whole clusters, the 2022 was bottled in July 2024 after maturing for 18 months in a combination of old oak foudres and barriques. Mixing grapes from three lieux-dits (Bassenon, Maison Rouge and Lancement), the 2022 outperforms the 2021 I tasted last year."

La Revue du Vin de France (September 2023): 95/100 “Everything is complex and at the same time simple in this wine. The elegance of the aromas on the nose form a delicate, sensitive whole, and the charm of the palate is underpinned by a texture of delicate salinity and a temperance of juicy fruit. Nothing protrudes from this well-balanced Condrieu".
Vinous (N. Greinacher - October 2023): 94/100 "Cropped at a minuscule 8hl/Ha, The 2021 Condrieu Les Chaillées de L'Enfer is delicious. Prominent apricot, ripe pear, peach, honeysuckle, melon and banana are all nicely delineated. Medium to full-bodied, this exuberant 2021 captures sufficient freshness to balance out its pronounced flavor concentration."

Vinous (J. Raynolds - December 2022): 94/100 "Brooding ruby color. Spice- and mineral-accented cherry and black raspberry scens are complemented by suggestions of incense, violet and cracked pepper. Silky in texture and quite lively on the palate, offering appealingly sweet red berry, cherry compote and floral pastille flavors that braced by a spine of juicy acidity. The spicy note repeats strongly on an impressively long, penetrating finish thatshows good clarity and smooth, fine-grained tannins."

Done in a concentrated yet lively style, offering palate-staining and alluringly sweet cherry, black raspberry, boysenberry, licorice, spicecake and candied violet flavors that are braced by undercurrent of juicy acidity. Shows superb definition and mineral lift on a wonderfully perisistent, floral-driven finish that's shaped by fine-grained, finely interwoven tannins."
