Created in 1985, Clos La Gaffelière is now independent, with its own winery and vat room. Made from the estate's clayey foothills, the blend is predominantly of Merlot and entirely aged without new wood, giving it a pure, delicate fruitiness (cherry, redcurrant).

More infused than extracted, finely oaked, with a beautiful balance between fresh fruit and velvety tannins, this sapid and sensual Dragon is more than a second wine.
Quarin : 92/100 « Couleur sombre, intense et pourpre. Nez très aromatique et fruité. Touche subtile de gelée de mûres. Délicat en entrée de bouche, moelleux au milieu, sans cesse juteux, le vin fond au palais avant de prendre de la puissance et du gras dans la persistance. Il y a dans ce vin une précision aromatique hors pair qui modifie la perception de la structure elle-même. C'est passionnant à observer. »
Galloni: 90-92/100 « The 2023 Le Dragon de Quintus is a gorgeous, vibrant Saint-Émilion. Crushed flowers, red plum, spice, new leather and cedar lend notable energy and brightness. Rich in colour, always delicious with an elegant tannic structure, Virginie de Valandraud makes those who think that second wines have no soul lie.
