The 2022 vintage in the press:

La Revue du Vin de France (Guide 2026): 96/100 "This 2022 is already making history! It imposes its pedigree and depth on many classified growths. From the nose with its notes of black fruit, one understands the depth of the wine. On the palate, it continues with a magnificent texture and masterful balance, resulting in a wine that is long, refined and powerful. Keep a few bottles for the decades to come."

Vinous (A. Galloni - January 2025): 93/100 "The 2022 Clos du Marquis is gorgeous. Resonant and quite expressive, it possesses notable textural depth and plenty of presence but never feels heavy. Inky dark-toned fruit, spice, new leather and licorice all flow across the palate. The 2022 will be an absolute delight to drink over the next 10-15 years."

J.M Quarin (February 2025): 93/100 "Dark, intense purple colour. The nose is moderately aromatic, with ripe, merlot-like fruit. Tender on the attack, suave on the mid-palate, the wine glides, caresses and finishes long, with a grain of coated tannin. It lacked a little sparkle."

Vinous (N. Martin - January 2023): 91+/100 “The 2019 Clos du Marquis needs a little more precision on the nose, dark berry fruit, cedar, touches of sage and crushed iris petals. The palate is medium-bodied with fine, quite pliant tannins Gentle grip, but there is certainly structure evident here with quite a tannic fisnish. This will needtime ine the cellar".

Hachette (Guide 2024): Coup de ♥ “We're touching perfection with this 2020 vintage of Léoville Las Cases. Nothing protrudes here, everything seems in place for a long, long, life. A great classic.”

Vinous (N. Martin - November 2024): 98/100 “The 2020 Léoville Las Cases has an intense nose with blackberry, wild strawberry, cassis and just a touch of licorice. It coheres wonderfully knit together, with filigree tannins and bright, tensile finish that fans out with real panache. Of course, it's primal and nascent, yet you can already tell the class.”

J-M Quarin (March 2023): 98/100 “A background of wood, hazelnut and licorice, reminding me of the young Las Cases of yesteryear (1986). Smooth on the palate, very aromatic in the middle, with lots of brightness and a dominant of violet and zan licorice, the wine melts on the palate, magical, powerful, sappy, deep, without any tannic angle.”

La Revue du Vin de France (November 2023): 99-100/100 “Las Cases 2020 is a superlative wine for its depth, richness, but above all its definition. A wine that breaks on the palate in wave after wave and shows no signs of stopping. The enormous tannic structure is perfectly poised and melts into the finish with absolute precision.”

The 2019 vintage in the press: 

Vinous (N. Martin - January 2023) : 94/100 "The 2019 Léoville Las-Cases is tasted from two bottles, but it is the second that really delivers the goods. It has a beautifully-defined bouquet with blackberry, black olive, subtle marine scents and touches of crushed stone. The palate is medium-bodied with fine grain tannins, cohesive, quite high toned towards the finish with touches of mint and cedar. Very fine."

J.M Quarin (March 2022): 97/100 "Dark, intense and beautiful colour. A fine, deep and complex nose. Subtle hints of black fruit, fresh fruit and spices, with a touch of orange peel. The palate is delicate, with enormous flavour and a charm that is unusual for a wine of this age. The wine fills the mouth, stretching out taut and aromatic, yet refined and subtle. It seems to have an inner concentration."

The 2014 vintage in the press:

J.M Quarin (October 2024): 95/100 "Dark colour, normal intensity and slightly evolved. Moderately aromatic nose with pleasant plum aromas. Slightly meaty notes. Delicate on the attack, subtle in its development, but also fleshy, with classy texture, the wine evolves upwards. It tightens between the middle and the finish, but remains mellow. It finishes deliciously, long, elegant and at the top of this tasting."

Vinous (N. Martin - February 2024) : 95/100 "The 2014 Léoville Las-Cases has a backward nose with the unenviable task of following the Léoville Poyferré. But there is complexity here, more tertiary in style, with autumn leaves and cigar smoke infusing the red fruit. The palate is medium-bodied with ripe tannins, fleshy to the degree that it disguises the backbone. Mouthfilling on the finish that actually reminds me of Léoville Poyferré. Seductive."

The 2011 vintage in the press:

J-M Quarin (November 2021): 94/100 “Ample on the attack, juicy in the mid-palate, well-constituted, tasty and complete, the wine finishes long and noble, with lots of taste and a touch of positive austerity. Very good.”

Vinous (N. Martin - September 2021): 92/100 "The 2011 Léoville Las-Cases is much more introspective on the nose than its peers, though it unfolds to reveal quite mineral-driven black fruit, leather and graphite aromas. it never fully lets go. The palate is medium-bodied with grainy tannins, fine acidity, fresh and lively with a focused, graphite-tinged finish  Maybe a little conservative in keeping with the vintage, though this is well crafted."

The 2009 vintage in the press:

J.M Quarin (October 2024): 96/100 "Dark, intense and slightly evolved colour. Superb, very aromatic, subtle nose with ripe, fresh and pure fruit. Creamy nuances. Very noble. Airy on the attack, melting as it develops, particularly aromatic, juicy and noble on the mid-palate, then powerful, the wine evolves smoothly, flavourful, deep and complex on the finish, without any austerity. It is long and particularly good. Don't deprive yourself of tasting this young Las Cases, even if it will last another 50 years (before 2060)."

Vinous (N. Martin - September 2023) : 97/100 "The 2009 Léoville Las-Cases is pourred blind and just soars in the glass. What stunned me was the tension and precision on the nose, tropes that I do not find with many Left Bank wines in this vintage. It has fabulous mineralité with that crushed stone element more pronounced than ever. The palate has beguiling symmetry, perfectly poised with a peacock's tail on the finish. Just a fabulous Saint-Julien."

The 2004 vintage in the press:

Vinous (N.Martin - April 2022): 92/100 “The 2004 Léoville Las Cases has a noticeable mintiness on the nose that actually complements the red fruit, though it deviates away from what you might call Saint-Julien typicité. After ten minutes, it coheres with ash and black tea aromas. The palate is medium-bodied with a rounded texture on the entry. The 2004 shows fine acidity and is lightly spiced with cracked black pepper towards the finish. A little conservative, but it acquits itself well considering the vintage.”
