They do not have tannic astringency and their aromatic complexity is therefore fabulous!

Rothschild (de Lafite) property. Adjacent to Yquem, Rieussec was until 2012 one of the sweetest wines of Sauternes, revealing itself only after a minimum of 10 years of cellaring. First (r)evolution from 2013 towards a more elegant and delicate style, combining richness and finesse.
Second (r)evolution in 2019 with a drastic tightening of the selections, Rieussec thought as the "head cream" of Château Rieussec, accompanied by a total break of the visual codes: new bottle, new labeling, new repositionable cork, new packaging (box of 4 bottles). Rieussec is now positioned on the second step of Sauternes behind Yquem.
The 2010 vintage in the press:
Vinous (N. Martin - September 2023): 93/100 “It has since opened with saffron-tinged honeyed fruit, dried honey and almond shavings. This example is more vanillary and oaky than previous ones, and that actually distracts from the terroir expression. The palate is medium-bodied; again, the new oak feels more prominent than previous bottles, prompting me to lower my score. It's utterly seductive but articulates more of the winemaking than i would like.”
In the commune of Preignac, Suduiraut offers a wine that reflects its geographical position: halfway between Sauternes and Barsac. The latest vintages are dazzling in terms of contained power and aromatic distinction.
According to Bettane & Desseauve (Guide 2025), “Yquem is the only wine that can still do a little better”.
The 2020 vintage in the press:
La Revue du Vin de France (Guide 2025): 95/100 “the 2020, pure, ample, deep, deploying the characteristic foundation of the cru but more compact in the expression of its form as well as its aromas.”
Bettane et Desseauve (Guide 2024) : 93/100
Vinous (A. Galloni - December 2022): 96/100 "The 2020 Suduiraut, 100% Sémillon in this vintage, is a dense, tightly wound wine that is going to need a number of years to come around. Passionfruit, ginger, spice, mint, apricot and tangerine peel build nicely in the glass. The 2020 is a blend of four picks from mid-September to early November. All the elements are so nicely balanced. Tge 2020 is simply exquisite."

La Revue du Vin de France (September 2022): 98/100 “A surprisingly supple Sauternes, as this terroir often produces muscular wines. Its softness grows the wine through its grace. Its generous liqueur is balanced by the sensation of concentrated grapes.”
J-M Quarin: 94/100 “Sunshine yellow color. Very aromatic, fruity, subtle, complex and noble nose.”
Vinous (N. Martin - January 2023): 97/100 “The 2019 Suduiraut has a powerful nose, quite oaky at the moment altough there is plenty of fruit packed behind it. The palate is dense and intense, with layers of botrytized fruit, stem ginger and quince towards the persistent and defined finish. Broad-shouldered yet with class. Blind, I thought this might have been the Yquem? no it's its neighbor."

The 2018 vintage in the press:
Vinous (N. Martin-April 2021): 95/100 “The palate is very well balanced with a harmonious entry, well-judged acidity and great tension thanks to a bitter orange peel note that counterbalances the rich, honeyed fruit on the finish. Superb”.
La Revue du Vin de France (November 2021): 96/100 “The substance is deep, but more powerful than fleshy, even if the liqueur is abundant. A Sauternes with thickness but also magnificent length [...] This wine, whose richness may surprise in youth, will age admirably well.”

The 2016 vintage in the press:
Described as “masterful” and rated 19/20 by Revue du Vin de France.
J-M Quarin (September 2021): 93/100 “Intense, fine, subtle nose of pure, ripe fruit. Delicate on entry, mellow in the middle, melting.”
Vinous (N. Martin - January 2020): 92+/100 "The 2016 Suduiraut has a clean, pure bouquet of light marmelade, lanolin, curry leaf and wax resin aromas, quite complex and developing more and more personality with aeration. The palate is well balanced, with a viscous, almost unctuous opening. This is richer and heavier in style than many 2016 Sauternes, but maybe just loses some detail and precision on the finish."
Châteaux La Tour Blanche, Lafaurie-Peyraguey, Rabaud-Promis, Rayne-Vigneau, Sigalas-Rabaud
These 5 first growths of the commune of Bommes (Sauternes) have joined forces to offer in each vintage a limited edition in a luxurious case containing a bottle of each one plus, it is unprecedented, a sixth bottle resulting from the blending of their 5 wines as soon as they are matured in barrels.
Climens has been, for more than 50 years, the finest, the fruitiest and the most endearing of the Sauternes wines. Almost discreet in its first youth, Climens does not cease to develop and to refine itself in bottle. Biodynamic since the 2014 vintage. Magnificent 2016 "a fruit of an exemplary purity" noted 99/100 by the Revue du Vin de France.
Following 4 years of almost no production (none in 2017, 2018 and 2020, barely 1200 bottles in 2019), Climens changed hands in 2022.
The 2016 vintage in the press:
Vinous (N. Martin - April 2022): 94/100 "The 2016 Climens has a wonderful bouquet similar to my last bottle, more expressive now with orange pith, wild honey and quince. Like before it opens wonderfully in the glass. The palate is very well balanced with fine definition, fresh and vibrant with a creamy honeyed texture, praline and apricot, on the seductive finish. Superb."

The 2015 vintage in the press:
La Revue du Vin de France (Guide 2025): 98/100 Coup de ♥ “2015 is a very great Barsac, a still clear wine with a striking airy breed despite its richness.”
Vinous (N. Martin - April 2022): 97/100 "The 2015 Climens contains 132g/L residual sugar. Cropped at 21.2hL/ha, it is wonderful and expressive with wild honey, praline, almond and saffron aromas. The palate is very well balanced with fine definition, perhaps a little more depth and concentration than the 2016. Beautifully defined and mineral-driven on the finish. Effortless. Outstanding."

The 2010 vintage in the press:
La Revue du Vin de France (November 2023): 96/100 “The color is already evolved, and so is the nose, but that suits this barsac from the 2010 vintage very well. It opens with saffron, kumquat and bergamot. Lots of noble bitterness. It's an energetic wine with great persistence”.
Vinous (N. Martin - April 2022): 90+/100 "The 2010 Climens has just been a bit variable bottle-to-bottle. This was a transitional Climens as biodynamics was being introduced. Again, I find this subdued at the moment, perhaps going through a sulky adolescent stage. The palate is well balanced with a menthol-tinged entry, fine depth and acidity, more expressive towards the finish with a touch of lemongrass on the aftertaste."
The most mythical vintage of Bordeaux, among all! Already, in 1855, it was the only cru to be recognized as a premier cru classé supérieur, placing it above the red premiers crus classés.
The 2021 vintage in the press:
La Revue du Vin de France (Guide 2025): 97/100 “An ample and coherent touch, with sinuous acidity, present without ever being dominant. It's not an imposing Yquem, but its immediately classic elegance and early availability are remarkable.”
Hachette (Guide 2025) : Coup de coeur ♥ « Ample and energetic from the attack, the material takes its ease in a voluptuous mouth, unctuous and caressing, more floral in its expression, supported in filigree by a hell of a freshness that stretches and illuminates the fruit in a saline and bittersweet finish. An emotional jury described it as a monument of elegance and purity. Great art. »
J-M Quarin (February 2024): 97/100 “Delicate vanilla touch when the glass is shaken. Magic on the palate! This is a white wine before being a sweet white wine. Ultra-noble texture. Distinguished aromas. Beautiful relief from the middle to the finish. Great length. Unbeatable!”
Vinous (N. Martin - January 2024): 96/100 “Slightly burnished in hue, it has a very attractive bouquet with scents of dried quince, clementine, linseed and subtle candle wax, perhaps more discrete than usual, but certainly fresh and vibrant. The palate is medium-bodied and viscous on the entry, a Yquem with perhaps a lighter chassis challenging season. It opens wonderfully in the glass, gaining more frangipane and kaki fruit scents, though it seems to have a lighter and more tensile finish than the 2020 or 2019. As such, I suspect that it will be comparatively approachable and, of course, delicious.”

The 2020 vintage in the press:
La Revue du Vin de France (Guide 2025): 97/100 “Magnificent length and lush glycerol, in a less botrytized vein but already capable of giving great emotions.”
Coup de ♥ du Guide Hachette 2024 “a particularly expressive, very floral and fruity (exotic fruit, citrus, peach, apricot, fresh almond...)”
La Revue du Vin de France (December 2023): 98/100 “Its sumptuous perfume evokes tangerine. It coats the palate with a sensation of tangy candy. Suave yet weightless, it is balanced by a melted breeding that carries it through to length.”
Bettane et Desseauve (Guide 2024): 97/100
Vinous (N.Martin - January 2024): 94+/100 “The 2020 Yquem has a slightly more Germanic nose than its peers, with a touch of petrol behind the veneer of dried honey, apricot and saffron. The palate is well balanced, with juste a little oak to be subsumed. It's very poised. Well-judged acidity drives through the harmonious finish. Give th three or four years in bottle for that wood to be assimilated, and you will have a sophisticated Sauternes on your hands ( and a score in line with the one tasted at the estate in 2023).”

The 2018 vintage in the press:
La Revue du Vin de France (Guide 2025): 97/100 “A creamy 2018, exuberant but without heaviness; all velvety seduction.”
Vinous (N. Martin - February 2022): 93/100 "The 2018 Yquem was tasted just a few month earlier before this second reading at the château. My notes are pretty consistent with that dried honey and saffron scented aromas, perhaps just missing the energy conveyed by the previous vintage. The palate is well balanced with that telltale lusciousness that I remarked upon in my last note, although this just precludes the 2018 from delivering the tension and nerve of the best vintages. Apricot and lemon curd linger on the aftertaste. Very fine."
Bernard Burtschy: 99/100 “The attack on the palate is a blend of freshness and vigor, with a mid-palate of great nobility and uncommon density, without ever becoming too powerful. The finish is highly complex with uncommon persistence and incomparable finesse thanks to exquisitely fine botrytis. Yquem 2018 is not a monster of power, far from it, but it will go down in history for its freshness, purity, very great density and above all its incredible length.”

The 2016 vintage in the press:
J-M Quarin (September 2023): 98/100 “Pale color, with green highlights. Intense, fine, subtle, noble and complex nose. Immediately refined texture and feel on the palate. Full-bodied, airy, nuanced yet profound. Very long, slightly tannic finish. It's wonderful."
Vinous (N. Martin - February 2022): 95/100 "The 2016 Yquem was picked from 27 September until 4 November after drought-like conditions in the summer. It has an attractive nose with white chocolate, chamomile and Chinese white tea infusing the honeyed fruit. Very well defined and focused with cohesion than previous bottles. The palate is medium-bodied with a viscous opening that demonstrates a little more weight than the 2015, a fine bead of acidity and touches of ginger and lemongrass enlivening the finish. I feel this has gained a bit more complexity in recent years."
Hachette (Guide 2021): 100/100 “The 2016 has left behind the viennoiserie notes of its youth to refocus on tastes of citron and tangerine. Its power settles confidently into pure fruit, nourished by a fleshy liqueur, which lends masterly balance to this vintage, which is also at the top.”

There is a real presence in this wine. The palate is well balanced with an unctuous entry and a keen thread of acidity, effervescent with blood orange, white peaches and pineapple toward the finish. Very persistent in the mouth, this is clearly an excellent Sauternes that consantly improves in the glass.”

It has a fresh nose thanks to the contribution of the 30% Sauvignon Blanc, not as complex as other vintages, yet delineated with lemon rind and lychee hints bubbling up with time in the glass. The palate is medium-bodied with a keen line of acidity, pure and beautifully integrated with the oak, yet missing the complexity of a top-flight Yquem.”

The palate is well balanced with a fine bead of acidity that cuts through the concentrated botrytised fruit. Very persistent and quite rich on the finish, this is decadent and rather gorgeous. Long-term."
Hachette (Guide 2016): 99/100 “The 2011 is also an absolute model of the refinement this vintage can achieve.”

La Revue du Vin de France (December 2023): 99/100 “Marked by a hint of evolution, the 2010 is between wax and honey. A real ball of fruit, this late vintage is still in the thickness of its liquor despite a long, fine muscle. To be forgotten in the cellar”.
Vinous (N. Martin - February 2020): 94/100 "The 2010 Yquem has an attractive bouquet with marmelade, caramelized pear, orange pith and light puff pastry nates. It just needs a little more delineation. The palate is very well balanced with a fine bead of acidity, lightly spiced and impressive focus. Like the aromatics, I would have just liked a little more precision on the finish."

Always harmonious, full-bodied and tasty, vintage after vintage. Vinified with mastery and precision, Laroche Joubert is the reference among the "petits vins" of Bordeaux.
Top-of-the-range Côtes de Bourg, selected (when the vintage lends itself) from the best parcels of Château Laroche-Joubert. With 80% Merlot and 20% Cabernet Franc and Sauvignon, aged for a year in barrels, Labadie offers the best of the Côtes wines: rich flesh and delicate tannins. Well done!
Colombe is not the second wine of Château Peyrou but a special cuvée from a 4.5 hectare plot in the eponymous commune of Sainte-Colombe. A graceful and juicy wine, perfectly digestible, with an obvious and exciting fruitiness (90% Merlot). A big bravo!
Mrs Papon-Nouvel is known for her 2 wonderful Saint-Émilion wines: Clos Saint-Julien and Petit-Gravet Aîné. But it also owns Peyrou, a small vineyard (10 ha) of the Côtes de Castillon in organic farming. Excellent and highly recommended.

Second wine of Pin Beausoleil, 90% Merlot planted in 2000, supervised by Mr. Derenoncourt. Concentrated red fruits, lively and fleshy, Petit Soleil is the best proof of the success of merlots on the clay-limestone terroir of the Entre-deux-Mers. Amazing value for money!
This is further confirmation of the high quality of the clay-limestone terroirs of the Entre-deux-Mers for those who know how to exploit them and are ready to put the means to do so. Lovingly cared for with the help of Mr Derenoncourt, the 5.8 hectares of Le Pin Beausoleil have been producing top-of-the-range Bordeaux wines for 15 years.
The 2019 vintage in the press:
Vinous (A. Galloni - January 2022): 92/100 "The 2019 Le Pin Beausoleil is all class. Lifted floral accents and silky tannins grace this mid-weight, refined Bordeaux Supérieur. Crushed red berry fruit, mint, blood orange and cinnamon are all laced together in this very pretty and understated Bordeaux Supérieur. The 2019 is an absolute delight and one of the under the radar gems of the vintage.”
A 7.5 hectare Petit Cru in the Entre-deux-Mers at the gateway to Bordeaux, where Stéphane Derenoncourt has carte blanche to conduct precision viticulture. We fully agree with Mr. Bettane: "L'Isle Fort produces one of the most elegant and gourmet Bordeaux Supérieurs that can be found".
The 2019 vintage in the press:
Vinous (A. Galloni - January 2022): 91/100 "The 2019 L'Isle Fort is gorgeous, just as it was en primeur. Iron, cedar, tobacco, licorice, dried herbs and mint lend striking aromatic intensity to this vibrant, polished Bordeaux Supérieur. Cabernet aromatics and structure are especially evident today."
